- Wing Notes: According to http://www.ww2wings.com: This badge was established in Japanese Army regulations in October 20, 1943 and applied to basically all Army personnel affiliated with aviation including supervising generals, ground personal, cadets, surgeons etc. It’s best to think of these as branch of service devices for the aviation branch of the army and NOT pilot qualification wings.
