- Wing Notes: Only a couple were ever made by Manuel the Naval Tailor in Simonstown. The Navy did not have its own pilots but officers who had previously served in the SAAF and had qualified were permitted to wear these above the rank stripes on the left arm of the winter uniform as per the Fleet Air Arm. These were sanctioned by Admiral Biermann.
